Our Philosophy
Partnership
We recognise that families are children’s first and most influential teachers. We will work in a genuine partnership with families, acknowledging differing family values, beliefs and cultures. We encourage family involvement in our program, which could take the form of sharing skills, activity participation, garden maintenance, committee position, or simply spending time with us during a session.
Community
We understand the importance of creating strong links with our community. We organise visits from a number of organisations and businesses such as Police, fire brigade, optometrists, and health services.
We acknowledge the Gunai/Kurnai people as the traditional owners of the land, and ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait cultures and values are respected and embedded into our program.
Inclusion
We recognise that every child has the right to quality education and care, regardless of culture, religion, socio-economic status, family structure, lifestyle, disability or gender.
We place emphasis on positive interactions between children, educators and families, which in turn promotes fairness and respect.
Learning
Our play-based curriculum takes into account children’s individual strengths, abilities and interests, and is guided by a combination of incidental learning and intentional teaching. We provide a range of experiences where children are able to exchange thoughts and ideas, collaborate with peers, and self extend.
Our philosophy, practice and programs are all underpinned by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the National Quality Framework.
Wellbeing
We are committed to the protection of the children and their safety and wellbeing. Children have the right to be protected from harm at all times. We have embedded practice that incorporates the Child Safe Standards.
Nutritious food and physical activity are promoted, encouraged and practiced, and lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
We understand the importance of sun protection, and are recognised as an accredited SunSmart centre.
Environment
We create a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment that encourages thoughtful play, early literacy, numeracy development, science and the arts.
Sustainable practices are embedded into our program such as recycling, water saving, saving food scraps, solar panels, and using environmentally friendly cleaning products.
